Bachelor of Economy

The Bachelor of Economics (BE) offered by the Faculty of Economics and Management, UKM is the pioneer among economics programs in Malaysia that has produced many well-known and prominent economists in the country. This programme is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills in the field of economics that allows graduates to apply economics-related knowledge in organisational planning, policy development, research and decision making in organisations. Focus areas include international and industrial economics, monetary and fiscal economics, econometrics, economic development and Islamic economics. PROGRAMME SUMMARY

The Doctor of Philosophy is a program aimed to help candidates  develop their academic professionalism and leadership.  Through this program, candidates will be able to strengthen their research related skills and develop their expertise in a specific field. This program suits all scholars including academic staff, schoolteachers, educators, and stakeholders in both public and private education in Qatar.

Programme Offered

Master - Research Mode

   1.      Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field with minimum CGPA 2.75 or equivalent, from
   any institutions of higher learning recognized by the
UKM Senate; or

   2.      Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field with minimum CGPA of 2.50 – 2.74 or                          equivalent subject to rigorous internal assessment; or

   3.      Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field with CGPA 2:00 -2.49, with a minimum of 5 years        working experience or research project in relevant field. Proof of the working               experience of a foreign candidate should be acknowledged by the embassy of the          respective country.

   4.      Must meet the English Language competency requirements by obtaining

   The minimum score IELTS (6.0) or  TOEFL (60) iBT or equivalent

 

   For  ( TESLProgramme

   Admission requirements are minimum :

   IELTS (6.5)  or   TOEFL (80) iBT or equivalent

 

   5.     International Candidate Interview

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

   1.      First semester: Attend and complete Pre-requisite course first semester

        GGGB6073 Research Methodology in Education

        GGGB6093 Quantitative and Qualitative Research in Education

        GGGB6053 Critical Writing in Research

   2.    Thesis: Present and pass the research proposal the full Thesis through oral                                 examination

   3.      Publish: Candidates must publish at least one (1) paper in a WOS /                                                 Scopus / ERA / indexed journal in a related and referred field, and one

(1) proceeding paper with the Supervisory Committee recognized by the Graduate                                   Studies Committee

   4.      Malay Language Requirement:

   LMCM1083 Communicative Malay Language as a requirement for graduation

Doctor of Philosophy - Research Mode

   1.       Master’s Degree from a University or any institution of higher learning                       recognized by the Senate.

   2.       Meet other requirements determined by the Faculty at UKM from time to time.

   3.       Applicants must obtain at least score 

        IELTS (6.0)  or  60 TOEFL (60) iBT or equivalent

 

             For  (   TESL ) Programme

    admission requirements are minimum:

   IELTS (6.5)  or   TOEFL (80) iBT  or  equivalent

 

   5.       International Candidate Interview Requirements

   6.       (only to selected candidates)

   7.       Meet other requirements set by the program (if applicable)

   8.       Meet the requirements of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)

 

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

   1.       First semester: Attend and complete Pre-requisite course

         GGGC8014 Qualitative Research

         GGGC8024 Quantitative Research

 

   2.       Malay Language Requirement:

     –    LMCM1083 Communicative Malay Language

 

   3.       Thesis Present and pass full Thesis through oral examination.

   4.       Candidates will conduct research under the guidance of a supervisor on aspects      of higher education. 

         The research results must be published in:

    2 Indexed Journals (SCOPUS/ISI/ERA recognized by the Faculty of Education) and 1 post-conference at the International or National level

    Accepted for publication

   Written with a supervisor
