A Bachelor’s degree recognized by the Malaysian Government in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 3.00, or equivalent qualification, or
A Bachelor’s degree with a CGPA of 2.75 and at least one year of relevant work experience, or
A Bachelor’s degree with a CGPA of 2.50 and at least three years of relevant work experience
Present a research proposal (in Semester 1 or 2).
Present research findings before submitting the Thesis Submission Notice.
Present two (2) papers at seminars organized by the Institute of Islamic Hadhari, UKM or outside UKM.
Publish at least one (1) article in any of the following categories:
a. ERA/Scopus/WoS journals;
b. Journals published by UKM, faculties/institutes, or those listed in MyJurnal (Malaysian Journal Management System) by MyCite;
c. A book chapter published by a publisher listed under Clarivate Analytics WoS, UKM Publishers, or MAPIM.
Fulfill the course and credit hour requirements.
International students must take and pass a Malay Language course.
Exemption may be granted to candidates who have taken and passed an equivalent Malay Language course recognized by the Senate.
All students are required to register for and pass six (6) credit hours of coursework. Students are also required to register for their thesis in EVERY semester, and the research findings must be written in the form of a thesis. The requirement of six (6) credit hours of coursework is as listed in the table below.

A Master’s degree in a related field with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 from any university or institution of higher learning recognized by UKM; or
A Master’s degree in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 from any university or institution of higher learning recognized by UKM and at least 2 years of working experience.
Present a research proposal (in Semester 1 or 2).
Present research findings before submitting the Thesis Submission Notice.
Present three (3) papers in seminars organized by the Institute of Islamic Hadhari, UKM or outside UKM.
Fulfill the Publication Requirements as follows:
a. Two (2) articles in Scopus/WoS indexed journals; or
b. At least one (1) Scopus/WoS journal article; and
c. One (1) article from the following categories:
UKM Publication Journal and faculty/institute or listed in MyJurnal (Malaysian Journal Management System) from MyCite;
Chapter in Book published by listed Publication in Thomson Reuters WoS, UKM Publication or MAPIM.
Fulfill all coursework and credit hour requirements.
International students must take and pass a Malay Language course.
Exemptions may be granted to candidates who have taken and passed an equivalent Malay Language course recognized by the Senate.
International students must meet the English language requirement by achieving a minimum score of 42-45 in TOEFL iBT or Band 5 in IELTS.
International students who do not meet the English proficiency requirement may fulfill it before graduation.
Exemptions from the English language requirement may be granted to international students who:
a. Come from countries where English is the official language; or
b. Possess academic qualifications from institutions where English is fully used as the medium of instruction and intend to pursue further studies at UKM.
