Bachelor’s degree in related field with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from any institutions of higher learning recognized by the Senate; or other qualifications equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and other qualifications, or experience recognized by the Senate.
International applicants should get a minimum score of 543 for TOEFL ITP; or 453 for TOEFL pBT; or 46 for TOEFL iBT; or Band 5.5 for IELTS.

Master’s degree from a university or any institution of higher learning recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and/or have accreditation recognized by a foreign accreditation body, or an institution with accreditation as prescribed by a program.
Other qualifications equivalent to a master’s degree or other qualifications with experience recognized by the Senate, or
A student currently pursuing full time master’s program under sub regulation 6 (a) at the university and recommended by the faculty’s / institute’s Graduate Studies Committee for status conversion to a doctoral program with approval from the Dean / Director, or
Bachelor’s degree with distinction from the university or any institution of higher learning subject to what is prescribed by the faculty / institute and approval by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and / or with accreditation recognized by a foreign Accreditation Board.
Any other qualification recognized by the Senate obtained through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL), or
Fulfils other requirements prescribed by the program (if applicable), and
Fulfils requirements of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
Fulfill all the postgraduate regulations of FSK and UKM.
Pass the dissertation / thesis examination and oral examination.
Meet the publication requirements set by the faculty according to the offer letter: a. 2 WOS articles for PhD b. 1 WOS article for Master’s
Fulfill other requirements set by the faculty.
Fulfill the Malay language requirements for international students as stipulated by UKM.
Approved by the oral examination committee for Senate approval.
An international candidate is required to fulfil the English language proficiency requirements as follows: a. obtained TOEFL (550), IELTS (6), or MUET (4) results which fulfil the score, or minimum band requirements prescribed by the program, or b. for certain programs, a candidate is required to sit for an English Proficiency Test (EPT) and if he/she fails to achieve the level specified by the program, the candidate is required to attend and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM) in a maximum period of two (2) semesters before he/she is allowed to register for the study program. The candidate shall register as a non- graduating student.
The faculty/ institute may grant exemption to the requirements specified in sub regulation (1) for the international candidate who:
a. will be writing his/her thesis/dissertation in Malay language;
b. has the academic qualifications obtained from any local universities recognized by the Senate, or
c. is originally from a country where English is the official language, or he/she has the academic qualifications obtained from any higher learning institutions which uses English as the medium of instruction.
The candidate may be exempted from the requirements stated in sub regulation (2), but the candidate shall sit for the English Proficiency Test (EPT) and if he/she fails to obtain the level specified by the program, the candidate is required to attend and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM).
